Destoner

Destoner

The Destoner is a highly efficient machine designed to remove stones, clods, and other heavy impurities from grains, seeds, and beans. Using the principle of density difference, the destoner separates heavier materials from lighter, edible grains through a combination of vibrating motion and controlled air flow. As the grain flows over a vibrating deck, heavier stones move in the opposite direction of the grain and are discharged separately.

This machine features adjustable air volume and deck inclination, allowing it to handle different types of materials such as wheat, rice, coffee beans, and pulses. The enclosed design minimizes dust, ensuring a cleaner working environment. Its stainless steel or powder-coated body provides strong resistance to wear and corrosion, making it suitable for long-term use in harsh processing environments.

The Destoner is compact, energy-efficient, and easy to operate, with simple maintenance requirements. It is ideal for use in grain processing plants, flour mills, seed cleaning units, and food production facilities where purity and quality are critical.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF DESTONERS

There are several types of destoners, each designed for specific materials, capacities, and cleaning requirements. The most common types include vibratory destoners, pressure-type destoners, suction-type destoners, and gravity table destoners.

Vibratory destoners use a vibrating deck and controlled airflow to separate stones based on density differences. They are widely used in grain processing for products like wheat, rice, and pulses.

Pressure-type destoners operate by blowing air from below the deck to lift lighter materials while heavier stones remain and are separated. These are ideal for continuous-flow systems and high-capacity operations.

Suction-type destoners use negative pressure (suction) to remove light impurities while stones move against the flow to be discharged. These are energy-efficient and suitable for closed processing lines.

Gravity table destoners offer the most precise separation by using a perforated vibrating table and air control to sort grains by density and size. They are commonly used for seeds, coffee beans, and other high-value crops.

Each type varies in airflow design, deck material, and automation features. Selection depends on product type, contamination level, and production volume.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A DESTONER
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A DESTONER

The purpose of a destoner is to remove heavy impurities such as stones, sand, glass, and metal fragments from grains, seeds, and other agricultural products. These contaminants often have similar size and shape as the grains but are much denser, making them difficult to remove through basic screening methods. By using the principle of density difference, a destoner separates these heavier particles to ensure product purity and safety.

During the process, the mixed material is fed onto a vibrating deck with controlled airflow. The lighter grains float and move in one direction, while the heavier impurities move against the flow and are discharged separately. This method ensures high accuracy without damaging the grains.

Destoners are widely used in flour mills, rice mills, seed cleaning plants, and food processing industries. They help protect downstream equipment, improve final product quality, and meet food safety standards. Removing stones also prevents damage to milling machines and increases the shelf life of processed products.
