BEIBU's Trip to Egypt: Expanding Horizons in Grain and Spice Cleaning Technology

BEIBU's recent business trip to Egypt provided invaluable insights into the diverse applications of our grain cleaning machines, particularly in the spice industry. This journey not only deepened our understanding of Egypt’s rich spice market but also revealed unexpected challenges—and opportunities—for our equipment. While we have always prided ourselves on the versatility of our machines, this experience demonstrated that innovation and adaptability are key to meeting the evolving demands of global customers.  

Discovering New Challenges in Spice Cleaning

Our company specializes in manufacturing high-performance grain cleaning machines, designed to handle a wide range of granular materials. Traditionally, we believed that as long as the material was granular, our machines could efficiently clean it. However, our Egyptian customer presented us with a unique challenge: cleaning Thyme, a leafy spice that differs significantly from conventional grains.  

Thyme, in its raw form, is a mixture of crushed leaves, stems, seeds, and various impurities such as dust, small debris, and foreign particles. Unlike uniform grains, Thyme’s irregular shape and varying densities made it a complex material to process. Initially, we questioned whether our standard grain cleaning machines could handle such a product. However, after carefully analyzing the samples and collaborating with BEIBU’s engineering team, we confirmed that—with some specialized modifications—our equipment could indeed meet the customer’s requirements.  

Developing a Customized Cleaning Solution

To achieve optimal cleaning results, we proposed a two-step processing method:  

Air Screen Cleaning for Preliminary Classification

The first stage involved using our Air Screen Cleaner to remove dust and fine impurities. This machine efficiently separates materials based on size, allowing us to filter out unwanted particles while preserving the quality of the Thyme leaves.  

Gravity Separation for Precision Cleaning  

 The second step utilized a Gravity Separator, which distinguishes materials based on weight. This was crucial for removing lighter impurities (such as small leaf fragments) and heavier contaminants (such as stones or thick stems). By adjusting the machine’s settings, we could ensure that only the purest Thyme leaves remained.  

Successful On-Site Testing and Immediate Results

After extensive discussions with the customer, we conducted real-time machine testing with larger quantities of Thyme. Over five hours of meticulous adjustments, we fine-tuned the equipment to achieve the desired purity level. The customer was highly satisfied with the results and immediately decided to purchase the customized cleaning system—effectively turning our grain cleaning machine into a specialized Thyme cleaning machine
